A deadly inferno at Jua Kali Green Corner in Embakasi has destroyed 24 homes and left the families homeless.
Confirming the incident was the Kenya Red Cross who noted that the fire broke out at around 1 AM and that there team and that from the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade acted swiftly and extinguished it.
“Around 1 AM, a fire broke out at Jua Kali Green Corner in Embakasi. Kenya Red Cross and Nairobi City County Fire Brigade responded swiftly, extinguishing the fire with no casualties. Unfortunately, 24 homes were destroyed.” said Kenya Red Cross

Responding to the news was Embakasi MP Babu Owino who called on the Nairobi County fire brigade to move with speed and contain the situation.
“Fire outbreak at Juakali Embakasi East. Sadness in Embakasi. Nairobi County fire brigade should move with speed and put out the fire.” he said
The news comes at a time when a deadly explosion occurred in the area back in February killing at least three people and injuring about 280 others.
The gas explosion occurred in a residential area where the business was operating from raising questions into who and why was the business allowed to run in the first place.
