327kg of bhang stashed in a Toyota Prado recovered in Voi

A suspected drug trafficker has been arrested and 327kgs of bhang stashed in a Toyota Prado recovered in Voi.

The 45-year-old suspect was arrested at Ikanga area after DCI and KPS officers erected a roadblock. Upon search, 11 gunny bags of the bhang were recovered alongside two extra sets of number plates.

“Police in Voi are processing for arraignment a suspected drug trafficker who was yesterday intercepted with 327kg of bhang stashed in his Toyota Prado, while enroute to Mombasa from Nairobi.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint team of DCI and KPS officers erected a roadblock at Ikanga area of Voi, flagging down the 45-year-old driver while on frantic efforts to turn about and escape.

Upon search, 11 gunny bags containing bhang and 963 big rolls of the same unholy herb were found, alongside two extra sets of number plates (KCU 888F & KCV 489R).

Patrick Odoyo Jabuya (the suspect) was immediately arrested and the cargo estimated at a street value of Sh9.8 million seized and escorted to Voi Police Station.

Legal procedures have been instigated, including the detaining of the vehicle fitted with Reg. No KCP 263K which is believed to be a proceed of the trade.” said DCI
