At least 68 students from St. Thomas Aquinas Igumori Secondary School in Mbeere South, Embu County were hospitalized after consuming suspected contaminated meat.
The Thursday evening incident affected form four students who complained of severe stomach pains and diarrhea after consuming soup prompting the school administration to seek medical attention for them.
Some of the affected students were rushed to Kiritiri Level Four Hospital and other to Embu Level Five Hospital for specialized treatment and are currently reported to be in stable condition.

Probe into the incident has kicked off as some of the affected students were discharged shortly after receiving treatment.
The school had organized a ceremony to celebrate the good performance they recorded in last year KCSE exams slaughtering a bull for all students and staff to consume.
The incident has since been condemned by Principal Paul Mwaniki who held a meeting with the students to assure them of their safety in school.
He continued by also assuring parents and school community that there is no cause of alarm as medical officers had contained the incident.
Public Health Officials have already launched an investigation testing the remaining food reserves to ensure safety of students and staff.
