Five people are feared dead and several others injured following a Saturday morning accident along the Nyahururu-Nyeri road at Mahiga Meeru area.
The accident involved women from the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a who had joined other members of the Catholic Women Association (CWA) at Subukia Shrine for national prayers that had been held on Friday evening.

Three survivors of the accident were rushed to Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital where they were treated and later discharged with the five who perished who included the driver were taken to Nyahururu County Hospital Mortuary.
According to survivors of the accident, the driver of the matatu they were in attempted to evade hitting a trailer that had lost its brakes which would in turn ram into them.
