The decision was however made by club manager Ruben Amorim who called on Onana to disconnect from the club after their Europa League clash against Lyon.
“André Onana won’t even be on the bench for Man United today as Rúben Amorim wanted him to disconnect from football after difficult week.
Amorim told Onana about his decision after OL game, while the GK is expected to return as part of the squad on Thursday for the 2nd leg.” said Fabrizio Romano
“Sometimes, you have to push the player to play again; sometimes, you have to let him disconnect a little bit” said Amorim
“Tomorrow, André will be in training to prepare for the next one, so I felt that it was a good time for André to disconnect” he said
