The government will on January 2025 roll out the animal vaccination programme that is meant to control livestock diseases and ensure healthier breeds.
Revealing the news was President William Ruto who noted that the programme targets a total of 22 million cattle and 50 million sheep and goats in all parts of the country.

He was speaking from State House where he met leadership of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party under the party leader and Mandera Senator Ali Roba.
“The animal vaccination programme we will roll out in January 2025 is meant to effectively control livestock diseases and ensure healthier breeds. Previously, this exercise has not been effective and efficient because it was done in selected parts of the country.
Under the new program, vaccination will cover 22 million cattle and 50 million sheep and goats in all parts of our country. It will be the beginning of more government investment in the livestock sub-sector to make it achieve its immense potential and make its full contribution to the economy.
