Athi Water Works Development Agency CEO Eng. Michael Thuita has resigned from his position amid graft charges facing him.
The news of his resignation were confirmed by the board’s Chairperson Charles Kamau Karondo who thanked Thuita for his services. His position will be occupied by Eng. Joseph Mungai Kamau on an acting capacity.
“I want to thank Eng. Michael M. Thuita for his service to the Agency. We assure all our stakeholders and the Public at large that the Athi Water Works Development Agency will continue to discharge its mandate effectively,” read the statement from Kamau

The news comes barely a day after the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Mr. Felix Koskei called for his resignation to pave way for investigation by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Eng. Michael Thuita is facing graft charges in relation to awarding of tenders for the construction of Ruiru 11, Karimenu and Kitui Matuu water projects.
Also suspended was Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency CEO Samuel Oruma who faces similar allegations in the implementation of Bomet/Longisa/Mulot town projects.
