Babu Owino claims plan by EACC to arrest him

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino now claims there are plans by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives to arrest him.

The MP revealed that he had received reports that the detectives are set to raid his office at Donholm, Nairobi either this week or next week.

According to the Legislator the arrest is a plan by high profile government officials who want to coerce him into joining the current regime.

He continued by saying that the government officials are worried about his growing political backing and want to taint his image by imposing graft charges against him.

“I was reliably informed by very serious sources that this week, EACC detectives were to come at our offices in Donholm, if not this week, then next week, they are to come and arrest me.

Their intention is very clear, that we need to put Babu down and tell people there are corruption allegations in Embakasi East,” he said

The vocal MP called out EACC advising them not to get involved in matters politics and if there is any information they want, they should feel free and visit him.

“I want to tell the EACC, you are an independent body, do not get involved in this politics, my office is very open, anytime you want to get information on any project you can visit.

There is no conflict of interest; none of my companies has been awarded any job in Embakasi East constituency; none of my friends has been awarded any tender in my constituency because there is a laid out procedure of procurement,” he said

Babu Owino dismissed allegations that he had bribed Auditor General Nancy Gathungu to give Embakasi East favorable audit results.
