Baby Sagini’s grandmother, aunt and cousin found guilty

A court has on Friday found three suspects guilty of gouging out Baby Junior Sagini’s eyes in December last years.

Delivering the judgement was Kisii Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno who noted that Baby Sagini’s grandmother, aunt and cousin were guilty.

Back in January, the three who had been charged with murder saw the case changed to causing grievous bodily harm after prosecution team applied for amendment in the charge sheet.

In March, the baby himself confirmed the incident as he testified that it was his grandmother who committed the beastly act using her own hands.

The story was similar as that narrated by the sister who said they had gone to fetch water at the river but Bbay Sagini failed to show up as he did not have his jerrycan with him.

The following day, his grandmother was informed that he has been found dumped in the forest before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospita received him from Riona Hospital and established that he had been assaulted by unknown people.

A trip to Kisii Eye Hospital confirmed that the extent of the injury was bad and that it was permanent as they recommended his enrollment to a blind school.
