Ruth Kamande, a beauty queen who stabbed boyfriend 25 times has graduated with a law degree from from the University of London.
The Lang’ata Women’s Prison inmate who is currently serving a life sentence after the incident graduated together with other inmates on Tuesday, November 26th.
Speaking during the ceremony, Kamande that its a new chapter for the graduands to rewrite their story even after they were locked up.

“We are here to celebrate this new chapter with a new story which all of you have participated in rewriting. We are here to celebrate graduands,” she said
“We are not here to just celebrate graduands from the University of London, but graduands who have successfully studied law behind bars. Graduands who are well transformed, rehabilitated, and reformed. Graduands whose stories have been uniquely rewritten by you.” she continued
The 2015 incident caught the attention of many Kenyans and not only for the gruesome murder but also for her beauty. A year later she contested in the Miss Lang’ata Women’s Prison contest, a competition that she won.
