Body of Missing Kakamega Teacher Identified

Siaya, Kenya – September 4, 2024

Nicholas Kipkorir Ng’etich’s grieving family finally claimed his body after positively identifying it at Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary. Ng’etich, a 29-year-old teacher at Emalindi Girls’ High School in Kakamega, was discovered on August 27, 2024, at Ndanu Falls. Authorities suspect his death resulted from abduction and murder by unknown assailants.

A video shared by human rights activists from Haki Africa led to the discovery of Kipkorir’s body. The video, showing a body being retrieved from River Yala, caught the attention of his colleagues, relatives, and friends. Investigators traced the body to Siaya mortuary, where they confirmed it belonged to Ng’etich, missing since August 10, 2024.

Speaking at the mortuary, Cornelius Chumba, a colleague, confirmed Kipkorir didn’t drown but was likely murdered and dumped in the river. Chumba described the body’s condition as decomposing and in bad shape, indicating brutal murder. Ng’etich’s family, led by his uncle Samuel Rotich, expressed profound grief over losing the young, promising graduate.

The family urged security agencies to investigate thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice. As the investigation continues, Kuresoi South and Kakamega communities mourn the loss of a dedicated educator.
