The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok for the alleged theft of Ksh 1,451,882,576 from the public coffers.
The governor who was arrested alongside 10 other who include eight senior officials and two contractors are accused of conflict of interest and theft of the public funds for payment of work that was not done in the first place.

According to EACC, they conducted raids at the suspects Nairobi and Bomet residence after getting a court order and have since gathered crucial evidence that will aid in the investigations.
Governor Barchok was taken to EACC’s South Rift Regional Offices in Nakuru where he was processed pending further action.
The Bomet Governor has been in the radar of the agency after a group of lawmakers called on his investigation claiming that public funds in the county were being misappropriated.
