Chinese authorities have released South Korean footballer Son Jun-ho after he was arrested on bribery allegations.
Confirming his arrest at the time, the Chinese government noted that the World Cup midfielder had been arrested on suspicion of accepting bribes by non-state employees and that he had been detained northeast side of the country.
Through a statement South Korean foreign ministry confirmed his release and has arrived in the country 10 months after his dramatic arrest.
He continued by revealing that legal assistance will be provided to the footballer and close communication maintained with his close family.
Since 2021, Son Jun-ho has been playing for Chinese Super League side Shandong Taishan football club and appeared in three of South Korea’s matches in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
