Coast General Hospital has kicked off the evacuation of patients from the facility ahead of a planned demolition of a house at the city center.
Pictures seen by Newsmoto.co.ke revealed patients being assisted outside the hospital thanks to a joint operation involving Kenya Red Cross personnel.
Revealing the news was Coast General’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Iqbal Khandwalla who said that the hospital lies within the radius of the planned demolition thus the need to protect the patient from the impact.

“We kindly request that all departments assist in ensuring a smooth and efficient evacuation process. Please coordinate with your teams to ensure that all patients are safely relocated and are provided with the necessary support during this transition.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as guided by the coordinating team,”” he said
Patients seeking services from the hospital have been advised to use alternative hospitals which include Portreitz SC Hospitals, CGTRH Utange and CGTRH Outreaches.
The demolition of the building will take place on Wednesday and will take eight hours. The operation will be led by  Kenya Defence Forces.
Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir has called for patience and understanding to ensure that the exercise is completed successfully.
