The Congolese rebels now claim that they have taken over the key city of Goma in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The rebels who comprise of the M23 group confirmed the news on Sunday issuing a notice to the government to surrender their weapons by 3am.
The news comes at a time when the rebels groups confirmed killing 13 peacekeeping soldiers who comprise of United Nations officials during a heavy gun battle.

According to a UN top official the Congolese rebels took over the control of Goma on Sunday paralyzing air operations.
“M23 and Rwandan forces penetrated Munigi quarter in the outskirts of Goma city, causing mass panic and flight amongst the population,” said the UN official Bintu Keita.
Goma, a regional hub with a population of two million people has been used for both security and humanitarian efforts.
The recent advancements by M23 rebels who comprise of Tutsi who broke away from the Congolese army has dented the diplomatic relationship between Congo and Rwanda.
