The court has on Wednesday approved the detention of fugitive Kevin Kang’ethe at Industrial Are Remand prison pending further direction on extradition proceeding against him.
“Milimani Chief Magistrate Hon.Lucas Onyina has today allowed an application by the prosecution seeking to have the fugitive Kevin Adam Kinyanjui Kangethe alias Kevin A. Kangethe detained at Industrial Area Remand Prison pending the hearing and determination of an extradition proceeding against him.” said ODPP
The prosecution sought court orders to have the murder suspect attended to by defense counsels on record for the respondent and when he is need of medical attention, he is then attended by the government doctor attached to the prison.

“The prosecution through SADPP Mr. Vincent Monda and SPC Ms. Magdalene Nduati, had also sought the court to issue orders that would ensure that the fugitive only had access to defense counsels on record for the respondent.
Moreover, in case the fugitive required medical attention, the prosecution sought to have it done in consultation with the government doctor attached to the Industrial Area Remand Prison. However, the court declined to issue orders in regard to the two prosecutions’ pleas.” said ODPP
The news follows his arrest in Ngong, Kajiado County after days of going into hiding following his daring escape at Muthaiga police station.
“The application comes after the fugitive was rearrested after escaping from Muthaiga Police Station. Kevin Kangethe is said to have escaped from lawful custody on 7th February 2024, after a person who identified himself as a fugitive’s personal advocate was allowed to meet him.
The matter will be mentioned on 19th February, 2024.” said ODPP
