Milimani Court has rejected an application by the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to withdraw fake paper charges against a former Nairobi County employee.
Issuing the orders was the Principal Margistrate C.N. Ondiek who declined Renson Igonga’s application to withdraw charges against Gabriel Bukachi Chapia who was accused of securing employment using forged certificates.
In his verdict, Ondiek noted that the application was in the public’s interest , a verdict that was also backed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) who has conducted the investigation.

The DPP told the court that the accused claimed he had qualification thus the need to withdraw the case and conduct further investigations. They continued by saying that it will cause miscarriage of justice if allowed to continue.
According to the Magistrate, the request by the DPP follows a request done to them by the accused and not from the investigations conducted.
EACC confirmed that a total of 14 witnesses had testified in the case except the investigating officer who was yet to take a stand.
Gabriel Bukachi is accused of earning a total of Ksh 9.7 million as salary from three public institutions where worked using the alleged forged certificates.
