Four police officers accused of selling the illicit brew that has claimed 17 lives in Kirinyaga have been detained.
The four who were arraigned before Baricho Law Courts are accused of selling the killer brew that had been stored at the police station as an exhibit.
Issuing the order was Senior Principal Magistrate Stephen Nyaga who called on the detention of the police officers at Kerugoya police until March 7th, 2024 pending further investigation.

The four who have been identified as Kennedy Mugambi ( former Kiamaciri police station OCS) Allan Kiamazi ,Brian Kariuki and Francis Muteithia are accused of jointly breaking into the police station store before stealing the exhibit which had been confisticated from trader in the area.
They then sold the illicit brew to one John Muriithi Karaya, the owner of Carlifonia bar at Ksh 20,000 who then dispensed it to his customers.
Upon revelation of the news, senior police officers in the area had been transferred following an order from Deputy President RIgathi Gachagua.
