A court in Seoul, South Korea has extended the detention of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol after he imposed martial law in the country in December.
Issuing the orders on Sunday, the Judge presiding over the case was told that the impeached President could destroy evidence if released thus the need to detain him for 20 days.

After the judgement was issued, his supported stormed into the court destroying property, a move that was condemned by both Yoon and the acting President.
Recently, Yoon declined to comply with investigators who wanted to search his premises but to no avail. The incident has since caused a political crisis in the country.
The impeached President is currently being investigated by the  Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) on charges of imposing martial law plunging the country to a political turmoil.
