Court issues warrant of arrest for Agnes Tirop’s husband Ibrahim Rotich

The Eldoret High Court has issued a warrant arrest for Ibrahim Rotich, the husband and prime suspect in the gruesome death of former World Cross-Country Champion Agnes Tirop.

Issuing the warrant of arrest was Justice Robert Wananda after he failed to show up for hearing of the case for the second time.

On 26th February Ibrahim failed to turn up in court with his lawyer telling the court that his client had switched off his phones and was no where to be found.

On Tuesday, the prime suspect again failed to appear in court prompting the judge to issue a warrant of arrest against him.

Justice Robert Wananda also ordered Eldoret Police Station OCS to appear before the court on April 8th to explain his whereabouts as the bail terms was that the suspect would avail himself at the police station every Tuesday.

“We pray that you issue summons to the OCS attached to Eldoret Central Police Station to come to court and explain whether the suspect has been reporting to the station every Monday as per the court ruling of April 15, 2023.” said the Judge

On 15th November 2023, Ibrahim Rotich was released on a bond of Ksh 400,000, with a surety of a similar amount or cash bail of Ksh 500,000 as the court found it unnecessary to keep holding him.

Agnes Tirop succumbed to multiple stab wound and a blunt head trauma as revealed after an autopsy examination.
