The High Court through Judge Lawrence Mugambi has ordered Makini School to compensate two minors Ksh 600,000 for expelling them.
Issuing the ruling, Mugambi noted that the school violated the dignity and mental well-being of the affected students.

The July 2023 incident followed a disagreement between the school and their parents before they were removed from their classes and handed termination letters by the head teacher Catherine Njuguna who told them to wait for their parents at the pickup area.
Their parents noted that the action by the school was unjustified and through their lawyer Apollo Mboya, the court was informed that the students had no history of indiscipline and that they were top performers.
He continued by informing the court that the action by Makini School was cruel and caused severe emotional distress to the minors.
According to Mboya, the school action was “precipitate, hasty, petty, malicious, capricious, draconian, and discriminatory,” and even caused untold anguish to their parents.
