Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen has asked for credit where due for reducing the generator delay at JKIA from 2 hours to 30 minutes.
The CS who was speaking during a radio interview noted that he has been working hard to end the ongoing blackout issue at JKIA.
“People say that I promised the country that it will not happen again but you must give me credit to the fact that I reduced the madness from two hours to 20 or 30 minutes. It should take at most one minute, a good one should take about 5 seconds,” said the CS

He continued by confirming that two generators were procured back in August but they failed to kick in when the power went off due to a synchronization issue.
“I was assured that they had been synchronized for automatic switchover as soon as electricity goes off. A month ago there was a blackout and the generator did not kick in the explanation I got was that the synchronisation was not successful,” he said
CS Murkomen noted that his goal is to have zero problems as he admitted that they underestimated the issue at first.
“People say that I promised the country that it will not happen again but you must give me credit to the fact that I reduced the madness from two hours to 20 or 30 minutes. It should take at most one minute, a good one should take about 5 seconds,” he said
The news comes barely days after Energy CS Davis Chirchir noted that the current blackouts will continue unless a power line connecting Bomet and Narok is built to lessen the power burden in the country.
