Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has sited foul play after Julian Alvarez penalty was denied for allegedly double taking it with his feet.
Speaking after the clash, Simeone posed to ask if anyone saw Alvarez touch the ball twice and why the VAR was called to make a decision on matters penalty.
“To anyone here: raise your hand if you saw that Julián touched the ball twice in the penalty. Come on! And? Ready? Nobody raises theirs. Another question” he said

“I’ve never seen VAR call to review a penalty in a shootout” he continued
Diego Simeone was speaking after his side was knocked out of the Champions League last 16 by Real Madrid on penalties. Julian Alvarez and Llorente penalties were denied as Rudiger sealed it for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
On the same issue, Courtois noted that the decision to rule out the penalty was the right decision and that people should stop playing the victim.
“We all know UEFA sees it clearly. I’m so tired of this victimhood with referees, of always crying about things like this” he said
