Diplomatic mission in South Sudan led by Embassies of Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Norway and the United States have offered to facilitate dialogue between President Kiir and his first deputy.

The statement follows continued violence in Upper Nile State, aerial bombardment and reports of civilian casualties. The missions concern also include failure to release SSPDF survivors of Nasir Garrisson.
It is with urgency that the diplomatic mission have called on President Salva Kiir and his first deputy Riek Machar to meet and engage in direct dialogue to restore and maintain peace.
South Sudan’s leaders have been called to avoid unilateral action, to reject the use violence as a tool of political competition and put the interest of South Sudanese people first.
