DPP constitutes team to review Agnes Wanjiru’s file

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has on Monday confirmed that they have constituted a team of senior prosecutors to review the file of Agnes Wanjiru.

“Consequently, the DPP has constituted a team of senior prosecutors to conduct a comprehensive review of the file,” said the DPP

According to the DPP, they noted te significant time that has elapsed in handling the matter but promised the family that justice will be served and that they will inform the public on any development.

“The DPP acknowledges the significant time that has elapsed in this matter and remains fully committed to ensuring justice for the family… any decision regarding charges will be made in strict adherence to the Constitution, the Decision to Charge (DTC) Guidelines 2019, and applicable laws,” read the statement.

The news comes hours after the United Kingdom Defence Secretary John Healey met the family of Angnes Wanjiru to express his condolences and promise that the matter will be looked into and justice served.

“It was deeply humbling to meet the family of Agnes Wanjiru today. In the 13 years since her death they have shown such strength in their long fight for justice.

We will continue to offer our full support to the Kenyan authorities so the family can secure the justice they deserve.” said Haeley

Wanjiru is alleged to have been killed by a British soldier back in 2012 after a night with them and her body was dumped inside a septic tank.

The matter has since caught the attention of many Kenyans who are closely following on the matter to see how it will end.
