Defense CS Adan Duale has called out Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to lead against the current ban of muguka in Coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi and Taita Taveta.
Speaking on Sunday, the CS noted that the fight of alcohol in Central Kenya, Rift valley and other parts of the country means that Kenya is one and therefore there is need to fight muguka together.

He continued by challenging the Deputy President to attend the planned meeting between the leaders from muguka growing areas of Meru and Embu and the leaders from Coast regions in order to find a common ground on the issue.
The declaration follows widespread call to ban the crop in other regions due to its high chemical content.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has maintained his stand that the crop is banned in the county despite alleged threats to lift the orders. His counterpart in Kwale has however not banned it but rather hiked the entrance charges of the crop in her county.
Governor Fatuma Achani said the new charges will come into effect once she accents the County Finance Bill 2024/25.
