EACC detectives arrest nine traffic police officers collecting bribes

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have arrested nine traffic police officers for collecting bribes from motorists.

The nine were arrested in Nakuru, Kajiado and Kisii counties as the detectives conducted surveillance on the roads during the festive season.

Cofirming the news was EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi who noted that the nine were arrested between 25th December and 31st December and have since been processed pending a date with the court.

Ngumbi continued by revealing the names of the officers as PC Muendi Okech, CPL James Gitonga, Cpl Mustafa Babuye and PC Dae Ronald Wakachanga.

Others include Sgt Susan Potishoi, Cpl Joshua Kipkurui, PC Duncan Bonn, PC Vincent Otieno and PC Ruth Ngugi whow were stationed along Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret Highway at Salgaa, Nakuru County.

Traffic police receiving bribe have been accused of allowing drivers break traffic rules by overspeeding, overloading and driver to operate without a valid driving license.
