Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga now wants victims of the Embakasi gas explosion given a cash compensation of Ksh 500,000.
“Each family affected by last week’s fire caused by the gas explosion in Embakasi should be given a cash compensation of Kshs 500,000. This is pure negligence on the part of the Kenya kwanza administration.” he said

He continued by also called on the government to issue the displaced families a house each under the affordable housing project.
According to the former Prime Minister, the fault lies with the government for allowing such an business to operate in a residential area as it is bound to cause harm.
“People are sleeping on their jobs while the lives of Kenyans are in danger. If it was the Azimio government in place right now things would be very different. Those culpable for this incident should have already faced action. Investigations should not take more than 48 hours. We already know where the mistake was,” he said
The news follows the arrest of the owner of the illegal plant, the manager of the plant and three NEMA who have been arraigned in court.
