Lagos, Nigeria
Nigerian authorities have declared former beauty queen Aderinoye Queen Christmas wanted over her alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced after officers raided her residence in Lagos last week, prompting her escape.
According to the NDLEA statement, the raid was conducted based on “credible” intelligence indicating the ex-beauty queen’s alleged engagement in illicit substances. During the search at her home, authorities reportedly seized 606 grams of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, along with an electronic weighing scale and substantial quantities of drug packaging materials.
Aderinoye Queen Christmas, also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye, held the title of Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and is the founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation. As of now, she has not commented on the allegations.
In a related development, another suspect returning from Brazil was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport last week. The individual was reportedly found with 60 large wraps of cocaine ingested, according to the NDLEA.
The manhunt for the ex-beauty queen highlights the seriousness with which Nigerian authorities are addressing allegations of drug trafficking, a crime that continues to pose significant challenges globally. The investigation into these cases remains ongoing.
