Double world champion Faith Kipyegon and Mary Moraa walked away with Ksh 2 million each as President William Ruto introduced cash reward for sports people.
All gold medalist in the just concluded World Athletics Championships in Budapest walked away with the cash reward meaning that Faith Kipyegon was rewarded Ksh 4 million for winning both 1500m and 5,000m respectively.

All silver medalist from the same competition were awarded Ksh 1.5 million and they were Emmanuel Wanyonyi , Beatrice Chepkoech , Daniel Simiu as bronze medalists Beatrice Chebet , Faith Cherotich , Jacob Krop , Abraham Kibiwot were awarded Ksh 1 million each. All finalists in the competition received Ksh 50,000
Malkia Strikers who were crowned African Women’s Volleyball Champions were also not left behind as they were awarded Ksh 4.45 million with Ksh 2.8 million being reward to the 14 players meaning each player will receive Ksh 200,000.
The awards are expected to boost the morale of all athletes as well as make the competition as competitive as possible so as to challenge for many tournaments.
