Families of two out of the four Mlolongo abductees have on Saturday cited frustration to trace their loved ones at City Mortuary.
The families of Steve Mbisi and Kalani Mwema were summoned at the mortuary to identify two bodies that were brought in on Friday.
They however spent the day without seeing any of the bodies and are now citing fear that they will not see their loved ones.
- Justus Mutumwa, one of the missing Mlolongo men found dead
- Martin Mwau, second body of Mlolongo abductees found at City mortuary
“Tumeuliza another guy pale akatuuliza tumekuja kufanya nini, tukamwambia tuliambiwa tukuje leo saa nne ku-identify miili tuone kama tunaweza famu mtu wetu, lakini kufikia sasa hakuna kitu inaendelea tuko tu,” said Kalani Mwema’s sister Monica Mwende.
The wife of Steve recounted the last moment he saw her husband was at their home when four men came in instructing her to shut up and forced Steve to dress up. She recounts seeing one of the men with a pistol tucked in her trouser.
“Mmoja alikuwa mkubwa mweupe akanislap na akaniambia nilale na nisimuangalie. Na hao wengine wenye walikua huko nilikuwa naskia wakimwambia aharakishe atoke kwa bafu abebe wallet waende. Mimi nikadhani ni polisi wa kawaida tu. The first thing I saw ni mwanaume alikuwa amebeba handgun, so mimi nika-obey nikalala,” she said
The news comes at time when the bodies of Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau were positively identified at City Mortuary with the records revealing that they had been there since December.
Leaders allied to the opposition have called on the government to end the abduction menace as they demanded justice for the lives of all those they alleged suffered in the hands of police officers.
“As you are aware, several people have been summoned, and Wakili Ndegwa had filed the application, led by Kimani Ichung’wah, Francis Atwoli, Didmus Barasa, Kenneth Lusaka, and I think we had Walukhe and others. Those who allege that Kenyans are abducting themselves—today we ask them, did Justine abduct and kill himself? Did Martin abduct and kill himself? A young man is lying in these cold rooms here, yet those who are trivializing this issue are doing so because they have been summoned,” said Eugene Wamalwa
