Ten people are feared dead after a matatu they were in rolled several times along Kikima-Machakos road killing them on the spot.
According to the police, the driver of the vehicle lost control before rolling several times. Seven other passengers were rushed to Mbooni Sub-county hospital for treatment.
“Today 16/12/2023 at around 1830 hrs along KIKIMA-MACHAKOS ROAD,10 passengers lost their lives, after matatu REG.KCQ 920H belonging to MAKOS SACCO, that they were travelling in, lost control and rolled several times.
Seven other passengers were seriously injured and were rushed to MBOONI SUBCOUNTY HOSPITAL in critical condition.” said National Police Service
The accident comes at a time when Kenyans are travelling to join family members to celebrate the festive season.
Drivers have been warned against reckless driving as police officers have been mobilized to crackdown reckless and unroadworthy vehicles.
