Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson dies aged 76

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, the first foreign boss to take over the roll back in 2001 has succumbed to pancreatic cancer.

In January Eriksson who was also the former Manchester City manager shocked many when he said that he was at the best year of his life.

Recently he resigned as the sporting director of Karlstad in Sweden after he collapsed following a 5km run. The doctors also discovered that he had suffered a stroke.

“Sven-Göran Eriksson has passed away. After a long illness, he died during the morning at home surrounded by family.

The closest mourners are daughter Lina; son Johan with wife Amana and granddaughter Sky; father Sven; girlfriend Yanisette with son Alcides; brother Lars-Erik with wife Jumnong.” said his agent

Eriksson started his managerial career at Degerfors IF before he was taken by Benfica in 1982. He enjoyed spells at Roma, Fiorentina before making a return to Benfica and later joining Sampdoria and Lazio back in 1997.
