Former Likoni DCIO arrested and arraigned before Mombasa Anti-Corruption Court

Former Likoni DCIO Charles Onyango Ka’galo has been arrested and arraigned before the Mombasa Anti-Corruption Court for soliciting and receiving Ksh 20,000 bribe.

Charles was arrested at his rural home in Oyugis before he was taken to Mombasa and held at Port Police Station pending his date with the court.

Appearing before Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Hon. Alex Ithuku, the former DCIO pleaded not guilty to receiving the bribe and was released on a bond of Ksh 500,000, with a surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 200,000.

“The suspect was picked up from his rural home in Oyugis, where he had relocated after retirement, and escorted to Mombasa. He was held at the Port Police Station pending today’s arraignment.

Appearing before Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Hon. Alex Ithuku, the suspect pleaded not guilty to three counts of abuse of office, soliciting, and receiving Kes20,000 as an inducement so as not to charge the complainant with a criminal offence that was under investigation. The offences were allegedly committed at Lovely Bar and Restaurant in Soko Mjinga within Mombasa County.

He was released on a bond of Kes500,000, with a surety of the same amount or an alternative cash bail of Kes200,000. The case will be mentioned on 19th February 2025.” said EACC
