Former Muhoroni MCA arrested after son was implicated in murder

Former Muhoroni MCA Carren Atieno Amuga has been arrested by police in Kapsabet, Nandi County after her son was implicated in the murder investigations in Chemase.

Confirming the news was National Police Service (NPS) who said that investigations are ongoing in the murder of Enock Kipsang in Chemase causing public uproar.

The MCA was arrested along the Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road as she allegedly attempted to flea her home in fear of the angry community members.

Nandi County Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) Peter Ochieng confirmed her arrest and that the suspect had been arraingned at the Kapsabet Law Courts. Caren’s vehicle has also been impounded and is being held at Kapsabet Police Station.

Chief Magistrate Kibet Sambu ordered allowed the prosecution team to hold the suspect for four days to pave way for investigation. The case is set for hearing on January 10th, 2025.

The news comes days after angry residents of Chemase stormed a police station, released a suspect linked to the murder and lynched him to death. The suspect identified as Victor Kimutai was being held in connection to the murder.

Police called on members of the public not to take matters into their own hands and allow the police conduct their investigation.
