Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has been admitted in hospital barely days after he was arrested over alleged blackmailing of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.
In a post seen by Newsmoto.co.ke, the former CS was admitted at Karen Hospital on Saturday over alleged pneumonia and high cholesterol levels that complicate his health.

“Detained former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was rushed to Karen Hospital on Saturday due to a reported deterioration in his pneumonia and high cholesterol levels that could lead to further health complications.” said Cyprian is Nyakundi on X
Echesa was arrested on Thursday night and was held at Muthaiga police station following an interrogation conducted by DCI officers over the allegations.
Efforts by his lawyer to have him released failed as he raised question as to how much he allegedly extorted and from who.
