Four Kenya police officers detained in Tanzania released

Four police officers from Kenyan who had been arrested and detained in Tanzania have been arrested after a long week ordeal.

The incident happened after the four were attacked and sustained serious injuries at Remba island, an island that separates the two countries but run by Kenyans on Lake Turkana.

It is however not clear what caused the incident but it is alleged that the officers crossed the border illegally thus the consequences they suffered.

The news comes at a time when a meeting was held in Homa Bay County between authorities from the two countries to discuss the security issue of the island. It was agreed that no one will be arrested as long as no one crosses the border illegally.

The incident also raises questions into the diplomatic relationship between Kenyan, Tanzania and Uganda as it is not the first time such incidents have been reported at the Island.

The four who were arrested, were arraigned at the police station by an angry mob as their weapons were taken in for safe custody. Upon their release, they were taken to Kisii Level Six hospital for treatment.
