Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has on Sunday called out a section of politicians on what he describes as intimidation of religious leaders.
Speaking during a church service at PCEA Muteero Kerarapon Church in Kajiado County, the former Deputy President called on President William Ruto to listen to the concerns of religious leaders in the country.
He continued by recalling President Daniel Arap Moi’s era where he said that religious leaders were humiliated and oppressed.
“Let us respect the freedom of worship, the freedom of expression, and the freedom of speech.” he said

“We want the churches to be allowed to spread the gospel without fear, intimidation, or interference from anyone.” he continued
“Let us not take the path of clashing with the church or dictating sermons. These men of God read the Bible; they know what to preach,” said Gachagua
The statement by Gachagua comes days after President William Ruto accused the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) of spreading lies before he further warned them of being victims of the same things they accusing others for.
“Even as we engage in public discourse on matters that are important to the people of Kenya, we must be careful to be factual lest we become victims of the things we accuse others of doing,” said President William Ruto
