Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come to the defense of Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen over recent blackouts at JKIA.
Speaking in Baringo at the Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Festival, the Deputy President blamed former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime for the blackout as he called out the public to take it easy on him.
He continued by terming the existing generator ‘fake’ as he called on CS Murkomen to purchase a new one instead.

“Huyu Kipchumba anajaribu, na kuna wengine niliona wakimkemea ati ajiuzuru kwa sababu generator imekataa kufanya kazi pale JKIA, huyu Kipchumba ndie alinunua hiyo generator? Sasa Kipchumba tafuta generator yako uweke wacha na ile ya wale watufuta generator yako uweke wacha na ile ya wale watu,” said the DP
The statement comes barely days after the country experienced its third blackout that once again affected JKIA raising questions into the seriousness of the government in tackling the problem.
Murkomen called for credit where due claiming that he had reduced the delayment period from two hours to 30 minutes as he works towards no delays in the future.
