Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has slammed the Kenya Kwanza’s affordable housing plan terming it a misplaced priority.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service at PCEA Emmanuel Matanya, Laikipia County, Gachagua noted that he had advised the President to focus on fulfilling the promises he had made to Kenyans but the affordable housing agenda was treated with agency.
“Nilikuwa naambia rais, si tutimize ile ahadi tulipatania wananchi…tuwajengee barabara, tuwaunganishie stima, tuwawekee maji na tuangalie maneno ya elimu,” he said. “Rais anasema hapana, wacha tufanye kwanza mambo ya affordable housing.” said Gachagua

According to the former Deputy President, Kenyans have other important issues to be dealt with including water shortages and infrastructure development.
He continued by saying that the resources allocated to the affordable housing agenda could have been used to address other pressing and important projects in the country.
“Hapa kuna mtu hana nyumba yake? Mnataka maji ama manyumba? Mnataka barabara ama manyumba?” he said. “Kila mtu anaweza jenga nyumba yake.” he posed
Once again Gachagua called out the government for reviving the Mungiki sect saying that plans to revive the illegal sect will result to more hate from people of Mount Kenya than what they already feel for him.
“Rais amefufua kundi haramu ndiyo atuhangaishe. Ukileta hiyo group, watu wetu watakuchukia kuliko venye wanakuchukia saa hii.” said Gachagua
