Gladys Boss Shollei among 47 public officials set for prosecution over graft charges

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has recommended the prosecution of 47 public officials among them Gladys Boss Shollei over graft allegations.

As things stand, the commission has already forwarded the file to Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for further action.

The deputy speaker of the National Assembly Gladys Boss Shollei is among the officals under probe over irregularities during her tenure as the Judiciary Chief Registrar.

Shollei is accused of purchasing the official residence of the Chief Justice at a cost of Ksh 310 million back in 2013 with the residence yet to be occupied even after the purchase.

Also under probe is former Wajir Governor Mohamed Mohamoud who is accused of Ksh 1.2billion in irregular tender which also involves his wife, daughter and aide.

The accused are reported to have used 12 companies linked to them before receiving the tenders without any supporting documents.

Former Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos is also facing similar charges involving irregularities amounting to Ksh 1.8 million as well as conflict of interest and unlawful purchase of property.

The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) was not left behind as three senior accountants are accused of embezzling Ksh 274 million.
