Google has on Monday confirmed that it will rename Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America once it has been approved by the U.S. Geographic Names System.
Other changes include the renaming of Denali in Alaska to Mount McKinley once it has been updated by the official government sources.

“We’ve received a few questions about naming within Google Maps. We have a longstanding practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources,” read the statement.
In the meantime users of the maps from other countries will be able to see both names as has been there policy and company standing order.
The news follows President Donald Trumps declaration during his inauguration ceremony that has since been implemented by federal government.
For years there has been a debate on whether to rename the country’s highest peek. President Barack Obama named it Denali back in 2015, a name that the locals used.
