The government through the National Treasury has agreed to disburse Ksh 7 billion meant for the construction of 7,000 classrooms.
Revealing the details was Education CS Julius Ogamba who said that the classrooms will be used by learners who are transitioning to Grade 9.
Ogamba was appearing before the National Assembly Education Committee to explain the government’s preparedness to Grade 9 learners transition to Junior Secondary School.

The CS expressed confidence that his Ministry will complete a total of 11,000 classrooms by December out of the 16,000 classrooms required to achieve its target.
He continued by confirming that a total of 3,500 classrooms were already under construction in public schools and are 70 percent complete.
When it comes to teachers, CS Ogambo noted that a total of 60,000 will be retooled between the months of November and December so as to cover the Grade intake.
