Governor Eric Mutai of Kericho has on Monday survived impeachment at the Senate after the motion failed to meet the required threshold.
In his defense, Governor Mutai noted that the motion by the MCAs had failed to meet the two-thirds threshold required for his impeachment.
Back at the Senate, a total of thirty four Senators voted in disagreement with the motion with only ten Senators who voted in its support.

The Kericho Governor was accused of gross constitutional violations, abuse of office, and misuse of public resources and the motion filed by Sigowet MCA Kiprotich Rogony.
The news was received with mixed reactions as a section of Kericho residents welcomed it saying it is time for the Governor to come back to the county and initiate developments.
