Governor Wamatangi threatens legal action against Tatu City CEO

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has denied extortion allegation levelled by him by Tatu City management.

The Governor noted that the allegations were meant to tarnish his name and that of the County government.

Speaking on Thursday, Wamatangi demanded a public apology from the CEO failure to which he will take legal action.

He continued by saying that Tatu City was supposed to surrender 10% of it 5,000 acres which is 500 acres for public use as stipulated by law.

“What the County Government of Kiambu has requested from Tatu City, as a condition for the review and approval of the Master Plan, is the reservation and utilisation of public amenities not for private use.

The requested public amenities include 10 acres for social housing to cater to the low-cadre workers operating within the industrial park and residential areas, such as those working in the industries, housekeepers, cleaners, security personnel and their families,” he said

According to the Governor, the said piece of land was to comprise of 44 acres for a stadium, 7.2 acres for a community center, 5.3 acres for a social hall, 4.8 acres for a hospital, and 2 acres for administration offices.

Tatu City however said that to acquire the land, one must purchase it and under no circumstance should it be given free of charge.
