Government has filed a petition challenging Margaret Nduta’s murder conviction with the petition taken in for consideration.
Revealing the news was Foreign Affairs PS Korir Sing’oei who held a telephone conversation with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam H.E. Nguyen Minh Hang and expressed the anxiety of Kenyans over the case.
Even though the matters is up for consideration, the government now has the duty to follow up on the petition to secure Nduta’s release.

“Had a telephone conversation this afternoon with my counterpart, H.E. Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam over the matter of Margaret Nduta.
I conveyed to Madam Hang the anxiety of the Kenyan people on the impending execution of our national and reiterated our request for a stay of execution to allow our two countries find a path to resolving the issue.
I am grateful for Madam Hang’s assurance that our Petition is under consideration by her Country’s authorities. In the meantime, our Mission in Bankok is actively following up the case in situ.” he said
According to Sing’oei, the matter at hand is complex and difficult but they are doing everything under their power to ensure it succeeds.
“Nduta’s case is complex and difficult but we are doing everything within our disposal to secure reprieve for our national.” he said
Margaret Nduta was arrested with 2 kilograms of cocaine and sentenced to death on March 6th, news that caught the attention of Kenyans who called on the President to intervene.
