Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has revealed plans by the government to provide permanent solution to schools affected by floods in Tana River.
The CS who was in the company of Garsen MP Ali Wario and Principal Secretary for Arid and Semi Arid Lands (ASAL) Kelo Arsama noted that the government has already set aside funds to ensure that the process is smooth.
“In the company of the Principal secretary in the state department of Arid,Semi-Arid lands and regional development , Harsama Kello , MP for Garsen Constituency,Hon. Wario Hashaka we donated relief food and construction materials to parents and learners displaced by floods in the Tana Delta region.

The Government under HE. President William Ruto is committed to in ensuring the livelihood of all flood victims is restored as we seek for a permanent solution the catastrophic effects of climate change.” said the CS
As at March 2024, at 22 schools in the area had been submerged by floods and others waterlogged.
“I have seen you have a shortage of 297 teachers and as a ministry we are going to send more teachers this year so that we can bridge that gap. Education is the only equalizer and we have vacancies in the teaching profession but in Tana River very few have the qualifications and I want to challenge parents to take their children for teaching courses so that they can be employed here instead of you depending on teachers from other regions,” he said
