The government through the Ministry of Health has stepped in to investigate a mysterious illness that struck Kisii County leaving over 20 people hospitalized.
On Monday, health officials from the Ministry of Health and those from the county investigated water sources in the affected area with the hope of unraveling the mysterious illness that has got many experiencing headaches, fatigue, stomach aches, and diarrhea.

Some of the affected residents complained of bloody diarrhea and a dangerously high fever raising the question as to what could be causing the illness.
Health facilities are slowly being run out by patients as medics rush against time to ensure that it is contained and treatment is found on time.
“We have been moving around, and so far, we have rushed 20 more people to various hospitals,” said County Health Promotion Officer Kennedy Omari.
Those who sought medical assistance have slowly began to feel better as they urged the government to swiftly handle the situation.
“We have joined a team from Nairobi to ascertain the situation, and we are also expecting a report from the government chemist tomorrow,” said Kisii County Chief Health Officer Dr. Richard Onkware
