The government has confirmed that they will settle all outstanding claims to hospital below Ksh 10 million under the now defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Making the revelation was President William Ruto noted that 91 percent of facilities under NHIF consists of public, faith-based and private hospitals which are currently affected by the outstanding bills.
The President continued by revealing that hospitals with claims over Ksh 10 million will need to under verification, a process that will take 90 days.

“The remaining 9 per cent of hospitals, with total claims of above Ksh.10 million, will be subjected to a verification exercise that should be completed within 90 days, after which a payment plan will be agreed on,” he said
“The Cabinet Secretary will gazette the verification committee within a week.” he continued
The news comes at a time when the politicians have joined Kenyans to echo their concern that SHA is not working as perceived by the government.
“Under the Social Health Authority, current claims will continue to be paid within a month. To date, SHA has paid all undisputed claims lodged since its inception on October 1, 2024, and up to January 31, 2025, totaling Ksh.18.2 billion,” said President Ruto
