Mike Whitaker, the head of Federal Aviation Administration is set to resign in January so as to pave way for President Donald Trump to name his replacement.
Whitaker made the announcement to fellow employees at the Federation which is tasked with regulating airlines and aircraft manufacturers and managing the country’s airspace.
“The United States is the safest and most complex airspace in the world, and that is because of your commitment to the safety of the flying public,” he said

“This has been the best and most challenging job of my career, and I wanted you to hear directly from me that my tenure will come to a close on January 20, 2025.” he continued
Whitaker was appointed back in October 2023, 13 months ago after receiving a resounding yes vote by the Senate after his name was fronted by President Joe Biden.
During his helm, Mike Whitaker will be remembered for taking on Boeing after one of the panels blew off from one of the jets in January this year. Some of the challenges he has experienced include a surge in close calls and inadequate air traffic controllers and equipment.
